Update from earlier: It's working. All good to go... fingers crossed, but I will be taking a spare body with me for a bit I think... Canon did the same thing as before and replaced the shutter assembly.
So....
The one big plus is that in the 10 months I have had the body, the original 20k or so pics before it died in Nov/07, and the couple of thousand annoying inverted ones since then get reset to zero. Means I have 100,000 clicks to go on this shutter. Well, maybe 999,985. I shot a few frames to see if it was behaving. :P
