Not totally photo related, not just a journal. A bit of both.

I photograph because...

Ambassador Sarah #9

I photograph because I like the idea of capturing someone’s essence that they themselves might have not known existed

Taken behind the old closed ‘Embassy’ bar and music venue in May 2009. Five days after this, the bar caught fire and was destroyed. Probably some of the last images taken outside there.

Brilliant. How right you are, Mike. Thanks for putting words to feelings I've always had, but could never articulate so clearly.

Nice post- I have a hard time with portraits of capturing that essence in people it must be a talent for it and you certainly have that talent. I do understand that feeling of capturing that moment that will never be there again.
So glad to have found your blog. I found it through Written Inc

Anytime, kind sir. I'm always in awe of your ability to draw out the personalities of your models. I'm much more of a still life kinda photographer...people tend to stymie me a bit. But you? Well, you have a way with them, and it shows in your work.
