Mantis religiosa, 2008

Went outside this afternoon and saw this guy on my window. This was the first time I had ever seen a Praying Mantis (Mantis religiosa) up close and in the wild, and first time trying to take pics of one. I don't have a macro lens so it was tough to get close without the autolock saying forget it....

Colour is as is, but upped contrast and added some vignetting. Not the best image compared to all the bug pics you find on flickr and so on, but this guy was cool. Followed him around for about 20 mins before he disappeared into a bush and I couldn't get a clear shot anymore.
