Documenting The Faces of America was great

I watched the “Documenting the Face of America: Roy Stryker and the F.S.A./O.W.I. Photographers” that I blogged the other day late last night on PBS and it was great. So many iconic images. And it was fascinating reading the back story to how it all came about, how it was looked on as propaganda by some, how it was almost shut down till FDR was re-elected in 1936. A great hour of TV. Not often you can say that in the middle of the summer. Well done PBS.

If you want to learn more about the FSA and study the photographs taken by the RA/FSA/OWI photographers go to the Library of Congress website:
www.memory.loc.gov
has thousands of photos from that era by Arthur Rothstein and others.
